Moisture Analysis
Test ID
D-018
Description
Moisture content is determined by coulometric Karl Fischer titration. Karl Fischer titration utilizes the quantitive reaction of iodine with water for the moisture determination; the iodine is generated directly by high-precision electro-chemical means.

Application
Moisture content can have a marked effect on certain properties - for example, strength and viscosity - and for this reason, moisture analysis is often performed before proceeding with additional testing. Moisture content may also be required for automotive material qualification.
