Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)

Test ID
T-203

Description
In thermogravimetric measurements, a small amount of material is placed into a microbalance pan situated inside a furnace.  The material is heated at a constant rate while weight versus temperature is recorded.  Analysis is performed to determine volatiles, inorganic fillers, and degradation point; a plot of percent weight versus temperature is also included.
Options
This test can be carried out with nitrogen or air as a purge gas. A switch over temperature from nitrogen to air can also be specified.
Standards
ASTM E1131
ISO 11358
Data
Percent Weight Loss v. Temperature is reported; other desired results may also be included. This data appears in Matereality as Thermogravimetric Analysis.
Replicates (# of times this test is repeated)
1
Samples
.1 - kg of pellets [details]

Application

This test is used to determine inorganic content, degradation temperature, and residual solvent levels.
