Environmental Stress Cracking (ESCR)

Test ID
C-120

Description
This test is used to determine the susceptibility of ethylene plastics to environmental stress-cracking when subjected to temperature and chemical soaking. Specimens are cut and notched according to the standard. Specimens are then bent to a stress state and soaked Igepal solution. Time to failure (cracking) is recorded.
Options
The test can be performed at either 50C, 10% Igepal solution or 100C, 100% Igepal
Standards
ASTM 1693
Data
This data appears in Matereality as Environmental Stress Cracking.
Replicates (# of times this test is repeated)

Samples
5 - ESCR samples [details]

Application

This test is used to rate ethylene plastics' resistance to cracking in a stress state. It is required for many automotive specifications.
