C-MOLD Post Filling for Semi-Crystalline Plastics

Test ID

Properties needed to perform a C-MOLD injection mold-filling and packing simulation for semi-crystalline materials are generated. These include viscosity vs. shear rate at three temperatures (two in the processing range and one below); thermal properties, high cooling-rate PVT data. Viscosity data are fit to Cross-WLF model and PVT data are fit to a Tait equation.
Included Tests
# Test Id Test Name
1x D-023 High Rate PVT by Hybrid PVT/DSC
3x R-011 Capillary Rheology (1 Temperature)
1x T-015 Specific Heat
A .fit file and accompanying material property data are provided. You can also create udb files as well as exports for other injection molding CAE using your Matereality CAE Modeler software.

According to C-MOLD, the Post-Filling module simulates the packing stage where a hold pressure is applied to the plastic to compensate for material shrinkage. Use C-MOLD Post-Filling simulation to determine how much pack/hold pressure to use, when to decrease the pressure, and how long to apply the pressure prior to gate freeze. Adding fast-cool pvT data is expected to increase the accuracy of the prediction for crystalline materials.
