Environmental Stress Cracking (ESCR)
Test ID
C-120
Description
This test is used to determine the susceptibility of ethylene plastics to environmental stress-cracking when subjected to temperature and chemical soaking. Specimens are cut and notched according to the standard. Specimens are then bent to a stress state and soaked Igepal solution. Time to failure (cracking) is recorded.
Options
The test can be performed at 50°C, 10% Igepal solution
Standards
- ASTM D1693
Data
Percent Failed v. Exposure Time. This data appears in Matereality as Environmental Stress-Cracking.
Replicates
Number of times this test is repeated: 10
Samples
5 ESCR samples [details]
Application
This test is used to rate ethylene plastics' resistance to cracking in a stress state. It is required for many automotive specifications.
