Plastic Point in Tension
Test ID
M-035
Description
Cyclic tests are performed on a material, in which the material is stretched to incrementally increasing extensions and then unloaded in between. Imposed and residual strains are recorded. Up to thirty extensions are used. A strain versus residual strain curve is generated. Plastic point is calculated from the intersection of the two asymtotes from the pre-yield and post-yield portions of the plots.

Data
True Yield Strain, True Yield Stress. This data appears in Matereality as Tensile Properties.
Replicates
Number of times this test is repeated: 2
Samples
5 tensile bars [details]
Application
This test defines a tensile non-linear elastic limit of plastics and elastomers and the subsequent plasticity or hardening curve.
