Heat Deflection Temperature
Test ID
T-020
Description
This test determines the temperature at which a material deflects a given distance. The specimen, a rectangular bar, is placed in an oil bath which is heated at a constant rate and subjected to a standard stress level. The temperature at which the specimen has deflected the specified amount is recorded.
Options
The test can be carried out edgewise, flatwise or at different applied stress levels. Please note the following: Edgewise is no longer acceptable for the ISO testing and 0.455 MPa stress is not available for flatwise orientation at this time.
Standards
- ASTM D648
- ISO 75-1
