Cure Kinetics by DMA-isothermal
Test ID
R-027
Description
A dynamic mechanical analyzer is used with a parallel plate setup. An uncured sample is placed between the plates at a desired temperature and a time scan is run at a single frequency. The time scan is run until the material stops curing. From complex viscosity v. time, the cure kinetics can be obtained.
Options
This test is performed at constant temperature. For non-isothermal (ramp) kinetics, please select R-028
Standards
- ASTM D4473
Data
Complex Viscosity v. Time, Shear Modulus v. Time. This data appears in Matereality as Melt Rheology by DMA.
Replicates
Number of times this test is repeated: 1
Samples
2 plate rheology discs [details]
Application
Curing kinetics is useful for deterimining the the rate at which materials "set-up" for a specified temperature. Many times it is useful to run multiple temperatures to determine temperature dependency on cure rate.
