Thermal Expansion Coefficient by TMA
Test ID
T-303
Description
This test measures thermal expansion coeffient using a thermomechanical analyzer fitted with quartz expansion fixture. The normal temperature range is 0°C to 60°C. Data are taken in the flow (0 degree orientation) direction.
Options
Other test orientations can be specified. Other temperature ranges can be used, up to the melt temperature of the material. This test can be adapted for soft materials and films. Please contact us with details; additional costs may apply.
Standards
- ASTM E831
- ISO 11359-2
Data
CLTE, Probe Position v. Temperature. This data appears in Matereality as Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion.
Replicates
Number of times this test is repeated: 3
Samples
4 flex bars [details]
Application
Data is used for design purposes and to determine if failure by thermal stress may occur when a part composed of two different materials is subjected to a change in temperature. This test is useful to determine thermal expansion of materials in which anisotropy is not suspected.
