Equibiaxial Elongational Viscosity (1 Temperature, 1 Strain Rates)
Test ID
R-040
Description
Disks of the polymer, approximately 6-9mm thick are placed between the lubricated heated platens at temperatures in the processing range of the material. This temperature is usually in the rubbery region above the glass transition. Stress-strain data are taken in compression.
Options
The test can be performed at different strain rates.
Standards
- ASTM D575
- ASTM D695
- ISO 604
Data
Compressive Modulus. This data appears in Matereality as Compressive Properties.
Replicates
Number of times this test is repeated: 5
Samples
1 plate rheology discs [details]
Application
Because of the lubricated platens and the polymer being in the molten state, this mode is considered equivalent to biaxial tension measurements. Such data are useful to characterize material models (KBKZ and G'Sell) for use in thermoforming and blow-molding simulations.
