Volumetric Expansion Coefficient by PVT
Test ID
D-022
Description
A dried sample of approximately 1 gram is loaded into a sample cell and placed in the PVT apparatus. An isothermal heating scan is performed on the sample. Readings of volume change are recorded by an LVDT for the specified temperature range and pressures ranging from 10-200 MPa. Included in the test price is a solid density measurement, as described in test [D-010].
Options
Data may be gathered while cooling the specimen.
Standards
- DPL D-020
Data
CVTE - melt, CVTE - solid, Solid Density, Specific Volume v. Temperature. This data appears in Matereality as Pressure-Volume-Temperature.
Replicates
Number of times this test is repeated: 1
Samples
2 parts, any shape [details]
Application
Data is used for design purposes and to determine if failure by thermal stresses may occur when a part composed of two different materials is subjected to a change in temperature.
