High Speed 3 Point Flexural Stress-Strain
Test ID
M-230
Description
A Dynatup 8250 drop tower is used to determine and report a flexural stress/strain curve. The test is performed at a constant velocity. Load and corresponding specimen deflection are recorded.
Options
The stress calculation can be performed using an elasticity or plasticity basis. The plasticity based calculation proposed by Trantina appears to provide better correlation to tensile stress-strain data and is used by default.
Standards
- ASTM D790
- ISO 178
Data
Flexural Modulus, Flexural Strength at Peak, Flexural Stress-Strain Curves, Offset Yield Strain in Flex, Offset Yield Stress in Flex. This data appears in Matereality as Flexural Properties.
Replicates
Number of times this test is repeated: 5
Samples
10 flex bars [details]
Application
This test provides high strain rate stress-strain data for the simulation of impact situations. It is well suited to the deformation of thin shell elements that are being deflected in a flexural mode.
