Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)
Test ID
T-203
Description
In thermogravimetric measurements, a small amount of material is placed into a microbalance pan situated inside a furnace. The material is heated at a constant rate while weight versus temperature is recorded. Analysis is performed to determine volatiles, inorganic fillers, and degradation point; a plot of percent weight versus temperature is also included.
Options
This test can be carried out with nitrogen or air as a purge gas. A switch over temperature from nitrogen to air can also be specified.
Standards
- ASTM E1131
- ISO 11358-2
Data
Ash Content, Combustible Material, Highly Volatile Matter, Medium Volatile Matter, Percent Weight Loss v. Temperature, Percent Weight Loss v. Time. This data appears in Matereality as Thermogravimetric Analysis.
