4 Point Flexural Stress-Strain, Strength and Modulus for Composite Materials
Test ID
M-225C
Description
A universal testing machine (UTM) is used to determine and report stress/strain data. The specimen is placed on the span; the span width depends on the specimen thickness. The UTM crosshead with two-point nose is lowered until just above specimen. The test is performed at a constant velocity, using a calculated value for the strain rate. Load and corresponding specimen deflection are recorded. Five replicates are performed.
Options
Standards
- ASTM D6272
- ASTM D7264/D7264M
Data
Flexural Modulus - Secant, Flexural Modulus - Youngs, Flexural Strain at Break, Flexural Strength at Break, Flexural Stress-Strain Curves, Load v. Displacement. This data appears in Matereality as Flexural Properties.
Replicates
Number of times this test is repeated: 5
Samples
10 flex bars [details]
Application
This test is used in cases where the single contact nose of a three-point bending measurement will create a region of localized stress concentration. The dual nose will provide a distribution of applied stress.
